Structure of a Master's degree in Myanmar universities
Under the current system, all Master's degrees in Myanmar:
-
comprise two years of study
-
have an obligatory Bachelor's degree as an entry requirement
-
comprise four semesters
-
the first and second semesters are devoted to course work
-
each semester consists of four courses, all of which follow the national curriculum set by the BOS
-
the first semester of each year runs from June to September; the second semester from December to March
-
each semester comprises 16 weeks of course work
-
one teaching hour equals 60 minutes per week.

the third and fourth semesters consists of a research thesis.
-
A subsequent M.Res. degree, which consists of one year of original research, is available to Master's students that graduate with a GPA >5.
