Master's Degree

Structure of a Master's degree in Myanmar universities

 

Under the current system, all Master's degrees in Myanmar:

  • comprise two years of study

  • have an obligatory Bachelor's degree as an entry requirement

  • comprise four semesters

    • the first and second semesters are devoted to course work

      • each semester consists of four courses, all of which follow the national curriculum set by the BOS

      • the first semester of each year runs from June to September; the second semester from December to March

      • each semester comprises 16 weeks of course work

      • one teaching hour equals 60 minutes per week.

    • the third and fourth semesters consists of a research thesis.

A subsequent M.Res. degree, which consists of one year of original research, is available to Master's students that graduate with a GPA >5.
