a joint EU/Myanmar project, which is
'Supporting the modernisation, accessibility, and internationalisation of environmental protection in Myanmar’s higher education sector'

Project Outputs

A curriculum in Environmental Protection at the three participating Myanmar universities, which comprises
new and improved courses that include 12 topics, such as:

environmental impact assessments and conservation biology
-
research methods, field techniques and research analysis
-
geographic information systems (GIS)
-
information and communications technology (ICT)
-
scientific report writing and data presentation
-
environmental law
-
natural resource management and protected area management
-
community-based conservation
-
outreach and dissemination.

Myanmar university staff that work within international scientific networks and have improved skills, including:
-
hard skills for field and laboratory research
-
information and communication technology (ICT) skills, including computer literacy
-
English language skills
-
soft skills, such as: decision making, problem solving, leadership, team work, critical thinking, work ethic, time management...

Improved technical capacity in the three participating Myanmar universities, including:

new technical equipment
-
new technical expertise to carry out research.

Improved accessibility to the three participating Myanmar universities, ensuring that university education is available to:
-
the most able students
-
students from the widest possible backgrounds, irrespective of gender, race or social status.
